East Midlands EGNX EMA

East Midlands Airport (IATA: EMA, ICAO: EGNX) is located at Castle Donington in North West Leicestershire. It lies between the cities of Derby (7 NM (13 km; 8.1 mi) southeast), Leicester and Nottingham, all within a 20-mile (30 km) radius of the airfield. It serves primarily as an airport for the local inhabitants of the counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Staffordshire and South Yorkshire. Currently the 12th busiest airport within the United Kingdom based on passenger numbers, however based upon freight traffic figures it is the second busiest.

PIGOT1J – Arrival via L608-N57, T420 to WELIN continue on TNT VOR R149 to VELAG. At VELAG turn right onto DTY VOR R016 to UPDUK then turn left to intercept DTY VOR R006 to PIGOT. FL220 by HEMEL.

East Midlands Airport is surrounded by class D airspace, therefore aircraft operating under VFR flight rules must file a flight plan and receive a clearance before operating in controlled airspace.

Pilots may be instructed to route via the Long Eaton or Shepshed entry lanes. This involves remaining east or west of the M1 motorway depending on the runway in use. Further information regarding the use of entry lanes can be found under the charts section.

Visual Circuits

All visual circuits are conducted to the south of the airfield unless otherwise authorised.

Circuits should be flown at a height of 1000ft QFE for fixed wing aircraft or 700ft QFE for rotary wing traffic.

Aircraft entering the visual circuit should select transponder code 7010 Mode C for ACAS purposes.
